This week, on my very own dining room table, I had some fun playing around with some tablescapes for Halloween. This look can be used for any Moody-inspired dinner party, but the Halloween Spirit has really grabbed us this year!
We have a really beautiful dining table from Restoration Hardware, so it was a tough call as to whether or not to cover the table with a linen. I couldn’t make up my mind, so I put together three different looks. Most of them included the same elements, proving that simply adding a linen, or switching it to a different color, can completely change the look.
The elements that were on all 3 of these designs are:
Floral arrangements done by our Plan It Perfect team
Flowers purchased from Pennock Wholesale
Gold Mercury Glass vases from Pennock Wholesale
Black candelabra from Michael’s Arts & Crafts (Hint: we removed the dangling charms that came on this piece because it was a bit much!)
Crystal glassware from my great-grandmother for the “Bleeding Heart Martini”
Solar Onyx wine glass from Select Event Group
Gold candlesticks that we’ve owned forever
Black taper candles and ivory pillar candles from Amazon.com
Mercury glass votives from QuickCandles.com
“Day of the Dead” salt & pepper shakers gifted from my friend David Morley of Zinnia Films
MacKenzie Childs candlesticks
The Naked Table
This look was created by dressing my dining room table with the following elements:
Everything listed above
Black Ceramic tile as a charger from Home Depot (Hint: if you don’t want to spend a lot on these, just use glossy black spray paint on a $.49 ceramic tile like we did!)
Architectural/Landscape dinner plates that had belonged to my grandmother
Gold napkins from Bed Bath & Beyond
Swiss Dot (black with gold) napkins from Select Event Group
Gold napkin rings from India
Debutante Smoke goblet from Select Event Group
Carmella (gold) flatware from Select Event Group
Edgar Allan Poe book, gifted by my father when I was in high school
The Moody Blue Table
I fell in love with this linen the second I saw it. Adding it to the table inspired a few other changes as well.
This look was created by dressing my dining room table with the following elements:
Everything listed above (in the first list)
Velvet Prussian Blue linen from Select Event Group
Shantung black napkin from Select Event Group wrapped around the charger
Midnight Swirl Glass charger plate from Select Event Group
Marble Dinner Plate from Select Event Group
Edgar Allan Poe poem, “Annabel Lee,” printed on hand-painted (watercolor) linen paper
Debutante Blue goblet from Select Event Group
Ebony flatware from Select Event Group
The Moody Black Table
A simple switch to black velvet in lieu of blue velvet inspired a few quick changes of hardware as well.
To achieve this look, we used the following elements:
Everything listed above (in the first list)
Velvet Black linen from Select Event Group
Gold napkins from Bed Bath & Beyond
Swiss Dot (black with gold) napkins from Select Event Group
Gold napkin rings from India
Debutante Smoke goblet from Select Event Group
